Get ready to celebrate Independence Day with a bang! Kansas City is bursting with firework shows and festivals that promise fun for all ages. From live music and food trucks to games and firework displays, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a patriotic picnic, dance to your favorite tunes, or watch the night sky come alive, here are seven places to watch fireworks in KC this 4th of July.
Stars and Stripes Picnic at WWI Museum and Memorial
Have a picnic on the south grounds of the National WWI Museum and Memorial for the Stars and Stripes Picnic and enjoy bites from over 20 local food trucks and browse through unique local vendors. Groove to live music, headlined by Kansas City’s own mash-up band, Lost Wax, and finish off the evening with a stunning 20-minute fireworks show over the Liberty Memorial Tower. This event is free to everyone, rain or shine.

Red, White & Blue Springs
Live music, vendors, food trucks and fireworks abound at this free event. With entertainment zones for kids, families, and adults, there’s fun for everyone at Red, White & Blue Springs. The Adult Zone is fitted with a beer garden with live music featuring local band The Stolen Winnebagos, while the Kids Zone offers balloon artists and inflatables, and the Family Zone has a magician and yard games.
July 3. Gates open at 3 pm, firework display at 9:30 pm. Blue Springs South High School (Larry Stewart Memorial Stadium) and Young Park.
Legacy Blast 2024
Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation is hosting a free fireworks celebration with musically choreographed simulcast on 94.9 KCMO. Before the fireworks display, celebrate with DJs, snacks, food trucks, face painting, balloon artists, and inflatables for kids at Legacy Blast 2024. Arrive early for parking because access closes once lots are full. If it rains, the event will move to July 5. Remember, LSPR parks are smoke-free with no grills, alcohol, or personal fireworks being permitted. Bring blankets and chairs for the best view.
July 3. Gates open at 6 pm, firework display at 9:30 pm. Legacy Park.
Liberty Fest
Come to Liberty for an evening full of games and entertainment for all ages. At Liberty Fest, try dishes from local food trucks and relax in the beer garden before grooving to live music by Lost Wax. Top the night off by watching a spectacular fireworks display. Bring your chairs, yard games, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks. Beer, water, and glow items will be sold at the Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce tent. Parking passes are $10 per car and are required for admission to the event.
July 3. Gates open at 6 pm, firework display at 10 pm. Capitol Federal Sports Complex of Liberty.
City of Gardner Independence Day Festival
Country music fans are in for a special treat this Independence Day with performances by renowned artists Morgan Evans, George Birge, and returning favorite Big Time Grain Company at Gardner’s Independence Day Festival. This free, all-ages event features various food vendors, games, inflatables and activities, with the evening wrapping up in a striking firework show. Overflow parking is managed with a shuttle service from Gardner-Edgerton High School. The event will not allow personal fireworks, pets, grills, or pop-up tents.
July 4. Festivities begin at 5pm, firework display at 10 pm. Celebration Park.
Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular
Enjoy treats from food trucks like Cafe 40, Kona Ice, K&C Concessions and more at OP’s Star Spangled Spectacular fourth of July party. Listen to live music from artists such as Green Shoebox Band, Howard Mahan, The Champagne Band and Justus West. Visitors are welcome to enter the park anytime on July 4th, with parking available in the Corporate Woods lot. BYO blankets, chairs, food, water and coolers for a cozy setup. Dogs are welcomed but must be leashed. Alcohol and pop-up tents are prohibited. The evening in Overland Park will end in a dazzling firework display and if it rains, the fireworks will be rescheduled for July 5th.
July 4. Food Trucks and Concerts start at 5 pm, firework display at 10:05 pm. Corporate Woods Founders’ Park.
Celebration in the Park
Leawood’s free, family-centered patriotic celebration features the Leawood Aquatic Center with kids’ activities and meals from food trucks. Bounce on inflatables, race through obstacle courses and jam out to live music by Twice on Sunday before the fireworks show. Limited free parking is available along Tomahawk Creek Parkway, with shuttle buses running until the event ends, excluding the fireworks show.
July 4. Leawood Aquatic Center opens at 12 pm, food trucks and activities at 6 pm, firework display at 9:45 pm. Leawood City Park.
