Moonstone, a new restaurant and cocktail lounge along the Berkley Riverfront, wants to shoot you to the moon.
Friday, November 21 marks its opening. With a cosmic, otherworldly aesthetic, the bar is leaning fully into its celestial theme, whether it’s a cocktail named Footprint or the bar’s space age design.
Moonstone comes from the team behind Two Birds, One Stone, the large beer garden and first venture of PortKC’s riverfront redevelopment efforts. Moonstone sits on the floor above Two Birds, One Stone and features floor-to-ceiling waterfront views, twinkle lights and romantic blue hues. Its energy is distinctly its own.
Positioned as the refined, more intimate counterpart to its down-to-earth sibling, the bar aims to feel, as General Manager Stephen Krantz describes, “dapper, stylish, rare, elegant and exciting, but not stuffy.”

Designed by KEM Studios in collaboration with Thrash Group Design, the space blends moon-textured details and sculptural, otherworldly furniture with warm touches like a vinyl record player and smooth, inviting ambiance.
The lunar-inspired cocktail list, crafted by Krantz, a certified sommelier, features eight signature drinks with names like Moon Landing, Brew Moon Rising, Moon Shadow and Footprint. The menu also includes 13 wines by the glass sourced from around the globe.

Executive Chef Rob Sorg’s food menu accompanies the drinks with dishes that range from caviar flights, rotating crudo and a smoked tomato–mushroom tartare to heartier plates like beef tips with corn soubise and walnut gremolata. Desserts include pecan pie with sable cookie, bacon ice cream, and bourbon caramel, as well as a walnut-cherry semifreddo between brownie cookies.
“Moonstone is a place to see and be seen,” says Krantz.
The lounge will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 pm. Walk-ins are welcome, and reservations can be made through here.
