Here are eleven great things to do in Kansas City this weekend, including shows from Adam Doleac, Fall Out Boy and The Moss.
The Tempest
The Tempest features exotic creatures, comedy, romance and live music in one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays in an outdoor summer setting. Along with the show, there will be food and drink vendors, pre-show parodies performed by Team Shakespeare and a pre-show talk.

The Jazz of Physics: Quantum Improvisation
Theoretical physicist Stephon Alexander and NEA Jazz Master Donald Harrison, a New Orleans-based saxophonist, explore their theory of quantum improvisation. They will be joined by composer and bassist Santi Debriano with other musicians to explore jazz and its poetic link to the universe. There will be a conversation on jazz and quantum improvisation with Library President Lisa Browar, Stephon Alexander, and Donald Harrison, along with a jazz concert with two original pieces.

Adam Doleac
Country music singer-songwriter Adam Doleac has written songs with Darius Rucker and Kane Brown for the past decade, slowly building a grassroots fanbase touring the country in his pickup truck. The stop in KC is in support of his latest single, “Wrong Side of a Sunrise” and his acoustic EP Barstool Whiskey Wonderland (Wonderland Sides).

Q BBQ Fest
The third annual Q BBQ Fest returns for a two-day smoking, grilling and eating extravaganza. The elevated barbecue festival gives guests the chance to sample the best barbecue from local, regional and national pitmasters on the Chiefs’ home turf. A new VIP ticket option this year lets guests enjoy an all-you-can-eat-and-drink experience for four hours, along with self-guided tours of the Chiefs Locker Room, the Bud Light Locker Room Club and the Chiefs postgame press conference room.

Gimme Gimme Disco
You too can be the dancing queen (over seventeen), in this disco-themed dance party, where you’ll hear ABBA hits and other disco favorites from the ’70s and ’80s like The Bee Gees and Cher. Disco attire is encouraged as you dance all night long (all night)!

Broberg Plays Rachmaninoff, with Puccini and Tchaikovsky
Pianist Kenny Broberg brings his forceful sound to Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2,” a piece created while the composer underwent hypnosis following an ill-fated premiere of his first symphony. Italian guest conductor Valentina Peleggi leads the KC Symphony in Tchaikovsky’s moody and bold “Symphony No. 4.”

Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner
The American brings back its Concept Series by hosting the James Beard Foundation’s Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner for the twenty-second time, an annual collection of culinary experiences open to the public. This year’s dinner pays homage to the rich legacy of The American and showcases the talents of diverse culinary leaders in KC, including James Beard Award winners and nominees—all alumni of The American.

Bluey’s Big Play
The award-winning, feel-good, animated kids’ series hits the road for fans of all ages to see the Heeler family as they’ve never seen them before. Based on an original new story written by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, with new music by composer Joff Bush, this spectacular stage show also features both puppetry and live actors.

Fall Out Boy
The ultimate millennial emo-pop band Fallout Boy was formed over twenty years ago in a suburb outside of Chicago. After several critically and commercially successful EPs and albums in the early aughts, they took a hiatus and returned with a more refined, less emo-punk sound. Ever since, they have been enduringly popular with a loyal fan base in aging millennials hungry for some nostalgic angst.

The Moss
Surfy grunge-rockers The Moss are making a stop in Lawrence. Known for fun stage performances and alt-rock vibe, the band’s breakout single “Insomnia” catapulted them into a headline tour which includes appearances at festivals like Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits.

Heart Attack Man
Cleveland based punk-rock band Heart Attack Man headlines KC’s favorite intimate venue space with special guests Super American, Arm’s Length and Photocopy.
