Get your greens on the go: with salad and go

Drive-thru restaurant chain Salad and Go is coming to the metro.

The Arizona-based chain is going through city planning to open a new freestanding building in the 95 Metcalf development, at 95th Street and Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park. Metcalf South Shopping Center formerly operated on the site.

The building will be between Whataburger and Andy’s Frozen Custard.

In a statement, a Salad and Go spokeswoman said, “We are excited about the possibility of serving communities in the Kansas City area and we are exploring opportunities in the area for summer 2025.”

She said the chain is planning two metro locations for now …

Salad and Go’s goal is “fresh, delicious and healthy food” – made-to-order salads, wraps, bowls and breakfast burritos with no additives, stabilizers or preservatives. Items are $8 or less.

The menu includes caprese salads or wraps with mozzarella, basil pesto, pico de gallo, croutons, romaine, mixed greens, and chicken, tofu or steak; Fiesta Burritos with eggs, breakfast potatoes, turkey sausage, pepper jack cheese, pico de gallo and tortilla strips in a flour tortilla with house-made salsa on the side; and the Mediterranean Bowl with eggs, spinach, avocado and feta cheese with house-made salsa on the side.

Other menu items include chicken pot pie soup, and a protein box (chicken, tofu or steak and two salad ingredients).

It also has cold brew coffee and hand-crafted lemonades such as cucumber mint, or blueberry basil.

Salad and Go was founded in Arizona in 2013 and currently has more than 140 locations in Arizona, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. The buildings have a drive-thru and walk-up window but no dining rooms.
