Overland Park will officially declare October 18 as “Jason Sudeikis Day.”
The Ted Lasso star, who recently won an Emmy and Golden Globe for his new hit show, is being honored for his continued commitment to his hometown.
Sudeikis, a Shawnee Mission West grad and Overland Park native, has been active in local charities and fundraisers like the Big Slick and Thundergong!, which combined have raised millions for those in the Kansas City area and beyond.
“He brings a slice of home to the show, whether through references to local barbecue joints or his character’s articulate Midwestern persona, based on his high school basketball coach, Donnie Campbell,” the proclamation states.
Mayor Carl Gerlach is set to sign the proclamation at the city council meeting tonight.
Happy Jason Sudeikis day, Kansas City!
