Downtown Overland Park’s Vintage ‘78 Wine Bar has been open less than a year and has already gained significant recognition, locally and globally. Not only was the small OP wine bar one of the 10 restaurants that made our KC’s Best New Restaurants list in December, its recently receive recognition from The World’s Best Wine Lists.

The World’s Best Wine Lists, organized by The World of Fine Wine publication, recognizes restaurants worldwide for their exceptional wine selections. Judged by World Champion Sommeliers, Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine, the awards program is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the world of world.

Not only did Vintage ’78 receive World’s Best Wine Lists’ esteemed Three Star Award (the highest number of stars an establishment can receive), but also the highly coveted Jury Prize, an award given to recognize a particular strength of qualities such as flair, good value, or all around excellence. Only 144 restaurants in the world have received a Three Star Award. Only 42 restaurants are recognized worldwide for a Jury Prize.

“We are thrilled and deeply honored to receive such esteemed accolades from The World’s Best Wine Lists,” said Michael Scherzberg, Owner of Vintage ’78 Wine Bar. “This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to curating an outstanding wine selection and providing an unparalleled dining experience for our guests.”

When conducting our own research last year for KC’s Best New Restaurants, it wasn’t just the wine that caught our eye – it was the food as well. The food menu wows with outstanding imported charcuterie options and chef Kyle Ketchum’s signature dishes like decadent lobster rolls. The menu is one of the most extensive and comprehensible you’ll find around town.
