Origin Coi Nguon (7711 N Oak Trafficway, Suite A)

There’s a new Vietnamese coffee shop in the Northland.

Origin Coi Nguon held its grand opening under owner Nhung Hoang. Decorated with glowing lanterns and a mural of the sacred lac bird, The coffee shop is meant to replicate a traditional cafe from Vietnam. The drink menu stays true to Hoang’s Vietnamese roots with coffee drinks made with Robusta beans, infused with pandan milk and topped with salted cold foams.

Bay Boy Specialty Sandwiches (110 E. 18th Ave., NKC, bayboykc.com)

You can now find Bay Boy’s specialty Dutch crunch sammys in the newly expanded Cinder Block Brewery.

The new extension of Cinder Block, named The Commons, features local beer, cocktails, interactive games and a full kitchen run by Bay Boy.

“We are inside a shipping container in one corner of the space, with an ordering window and a pickup window,” says Bay Boy co-owner Jake Wilson. “Right now it’s only walk-up. Soon we will have phone ordering, followed by online ordering.”

Wilson says although the second location’s menu is pared down at the moment, they recently added a kimchi grilled cheese sandwich that’s proven to be popular.

The Bay Boy’s North KC spot is open Thursday through Sunday, noon to 10 pm.

No specific reason for Pathlight’s closing was stated in the Instagram post but it did state that June 20 will be the brewery’s last day open for business.

Pathlight Brewing did not respond to request for comment.
