More than 700 adventurers set out down the Missouri River at Kaw Point in the world’s longest non-stop river race. It’s known at the MR340 river race and is 340 miles of paddling through Missouri’s muddy waters.
Using all sorts of water craft, from canoes and Kayaks to paddle boards and row boats, the paddlers start in Kansas City and finish at St. Charles at the other end of the state in a race that officially runs four days. Both individuals and teams participate in the race that runs from July 23- 24 this year.
The course record is 33 hours and 1 minute set by a team of paddlers in 2018. Paddlers will take anywhere from 33 to 50 hours to cross the finish line. The race officially ends 9 pm, Friday, July 29, with the “Governor’s Cup” awarded to the boat that arrives first.
