After four years, Popular pet store fills former Stein Mart locale

After four years, Lenexa’s former Stein Mart space in Orchard Corners is now leased.

Petco, which sells pet food, products and services, will open in half of the 37,000-square-foot space in Orchard Corners at 95th Street and Quivira Road.

Sierra was previously announced as the tenant for the other half of the space. Sierra specializes in active, outdoor and lifestyle goods for the family. It is part of the TJMaxx family of brands (T.J.Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and HomeSense). Orchard Corners also has T.J.Maxx and HomeGoods as tenants. Its other other anchors are Nordstrom Rack and Michaels

Sierra recently entered the area market with a store in Overland Park’s Bluhawk.

Stein Mart relocated from an Overland Park space to Orchard Corners, across from Oak Park Mall, in 2010. It filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in 2020 and closed 279 locations, including the Lenexa location.

David M. Block of Block & Company Inc. Realtors handled the negotiations for Orchard Corners.

A spokeswoman for Sierra said the store was not scheduled to open this year but didn’t have any other details.

A Petco spokeswoman did not have additional information on the Lenexa store at this time.
