Fall was in full “swing” at Summit Fair this past Saturday, September 19, as The Strawberry Swing made its Lee’s Summit debut. Shop Local KC Fall Swing filled the shopping center’s parking lots with rows of white tents filled with more than 40 local makers, artists and small businesses.
The event showcased some of the most creative talents with a little bit of everything, from handmade jewelry and embroidered clothing and accessories to custom artwork and ceramic home goods.
The Summit Fair event was the latest stop for The Strawberry Swing, a coalition that brings indie makers together for pop-up fairs. The group got its start in 2011 from a group of local Etsy sellers and has since become a fixture throughout the city, hosting curated markets throughout the year.
The Strawberry Swing focuses on handmade and vintage goods and gives local entrepreneurs to get their work in front of festivalgoers while creating a community around the local maker scene.
The First Fall Swing at Summit Fair was a fitting way to kick off the the -ber months. Its next event is the annual Holiday Swing, which takes place Saturday, November 21 and 22 at Union Station.
