Here are twelve things to do this New Year’s Eve weekend in KC, December 28-31, including: the last weekend to experience many holiday shows and pop-ups and multiple New Year’s Eve parties across KC.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen, but now audiences get to experience the most famous reindeer of all—Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. This live musical will be performed at the Coterie Theatre this holiday season, inspiring everyone to be true to themselves and find strength in their perceived flaws.

Evergy Festival of Lights at Powell Gardens

This unique festive outdoor experience follows a 1-mile walk through Powell Gardens’ immersive, botanically inspired light installations. On Fridays and Saturdays, patrons can create and deliver their holiday wish lists to Santa who will also be posing for photos. There will also be live Christmas music performed by local favorites.

Sippin’ Santa 

The holiday tiki pop-up Sippin’ Santa is at the Hey! Hey! Club, the intimate space at J. Rieger & Co., which is transformed for the holidays into a swanky tropical holiday oasis. This holiday pop-up features festive original cocktails in holiday inspired glassware/mugs, themed decorations and at the end of this year’s season, Miracle and Sippin’ Santa will donate 10% of all proceeds from the sale of select glassware to the Seva Foundation, a global nonprofit eye care organization that works with local communities around the world.

Enchant

Enchant boasts as the largest Christmas light display in the country and it is coming to Kansas City this holiday season. Featuring an all-new light maze, a village of tiny storefronts featuring artisan vendors, an ice skating trail, photo opps with Santa, a play place for children, along with special themed nights, Enchant is sure to have something for people of all ages.

David Koechner

Missouri native David Koechner is probably best known for his role as Todd Packard on The Office as the crass and annoyingly hilarious friend of Michael Scott. Koechner’s career has spanned decades, bringing us some of the most memorable comedy roles of the last few decades, including his hilariously gross role in Anchorman.

NYE Live!

NYE Live! in P&L is consistently one of the biggest New Year’s Eve parties in KC. Purchase of tickets include exclusive access to over ten bars and nightclubs, food and drink packages, multiple DJ’s, party favors and champagne toasts. The legendary countdown to midnight is complete with a Times Square ball drop.

New Year’s Eve at Howl at the Moon

New Year’s Eve at Howl at the Moon in P&L guarantees to be an unforgettable night out. Tickets include a dinner buffet, open bar, party favors, a champagne toast at midnight and, of course, all of the singing and dancing that you can handle.

December 31. 7 pm. Howl at the Moon.

24K New Years Eve Party at J. Rieger & Co. 

J. Rieger & Co. will host a Masquerade-style New Year’s Eve party with performances by Voler – Thieves of Flight, DJ cQuence, live music by Wonderfuzz and more. Bejewel stations from the Body Glitter Bar, photo ops by Platinum XP, along with heavy hors d’oeuvres and multiple bars round out this evening of masqueraded revelry.

New Year’s Eve Party 2024 at Parlor KCMO

Come ring in the New Year with great skyline views, live DJ entertainment, food and craft cocktails. Complete with three floors of different vibes and views: dancing in the main Living Room, watching the skyline on the Patio or dancing to silent disco in the Cellar, there’s something for everyone.

NYE Bar Crawl

If you suffer from NYE FOMO, this is the choice for you. In this NYE bar crawl, guests can roam Westport area bars like Missie B’s and Levee, to test out each vibe with dancing and drink specials. Each ticket gives you passes to nearly ten bars in the area, including drink discount coupons and free welcome shots at certain locations.

New Year’s Eve Party at Crossroads Hotel 

Crossroads Hotel hosts their annual New Year’s Eve party, with this year’s theme being “a night of modern disco.” Guests can relive the Studio 54 days, with Quixotic and Nomada’s transformation of the ballroom with dazzling lights, mirror balls and talented performers. DJ Cale Parks will perform a set in the Atrium and Executive Chef of the hotel, Aaron Wells-Morgan, will also be offering a diverse menu to enjoy all evening long.

Last Dance NYE Blowout

Consistently one of the most popular events in KC, Last Dance is the New Year’s Eve party hosted by Sheppa & Friends at The Ship. Funk band the Phantastics will start the party with live music, both rooms will be decorated with a disco theme, live DJs will play all night long, an open bar and a champagne toast for everyone at midnight to complete the celebration of the new year.
