Westport’s GoCha Tea & Beverage recently closed. Owner Connie Tran blames its closure on a lack of foot traffic and two back-to-back break-ins earlier this year, but says, “I’m very sad to let Westport go.”
Tran opened the shop (4111 Pennsylvania Ave.) in 2019. Yako Gallery and then Tea Drops had previously operated there.
She opened a Northland location (6595 N. Oak Trafficway, Gladstone) in 2017 but sold it to her employees in 2022.
She also opened an Overland Park location (7800 Shawnee Mission Parkway) just west of Metcalf Avenue in late 2022. It still continues to operate.
Menu items include brewed teas, coffee, lattes, brown sugar drinks, cheese teas, flavored teas, fresh fruit teas, matcha, milk teas, fresh juices, and smoothies, along with such food offerings as rice paper salads, caramel flan, and sweet ginger tofu pudding.
Before opening the GoCha Tea shops, Tran had been in the nail salon industry for more than a decade.
