KC’s Strang Chef Collective Is Closing

After “evaluating the current market conditions and customer demand,” downtown Kansas City’s Strang Chef Collective at Lightwell has decided to close.

The location (1100 Main St.) has two chef-driven concepts – Anousone (Southeast Asian cuisine) and Panacea (a New American Bistro), as well as Strang Bar.

Tuesday, Nov. 26, will be their last day of operations in Lightwell.

The Lightwell location was planned pre-pandemic and after months of delays, Strang Chef Collective opened it in late 2022.

“Being a part of lightwell was an exciting part of our brand growth for Strang Hall and we hoped for long-term partnership downtown,” said Strang Chef Collectives CEO, Shawn Craft, in a statement. “However, we planned this concept before the world changed from the pandemic and the new era of hybrid work weeks and flex schedules decimated downtown foot traffic, which made it extremely challenging to sustain long-term even with our best efforts.”

Strang Hall, located in Downtown Overland Park, and Strang Chef Collective on the Plaza will remain open.

Anousone also has a location in Strang Hall in Overland Park.
